Hanhart Chronograph Features:

Hanhart supplied pilots and naval officers during World War II, and their flagship flyback chronograph was made to withstand the harshest military conditions.  The large 41mm case, large nipple pushers, radium numbers and hands were designed for ease of use while reading in the dark and while wearing gloves.  These cases are made of chrome plated brass and are usually in fair to poor condition.  This example is better than most and in very good original condition.

Hanhart Facts of Interest:

  • Watchmaker Jonathan A. Hanhart opened his watch store in Switzerland in 1882 and moved operations to Germany in 1902.
  • Like many German factories, Hanhart was contracted to produce watches for Hitler's Luftwaffe during World War II

Dimensions:

  • Head diameter excluding the original signed winding crown: 41mm
  • Top to Bottom: 49mm
  • Lug Spacing for Strap: 20mm

Case: Large 41mm case with fixed lugs.  The stainless steel screwback reads "BODEN EDELSTAHL, WASSERGESCHUTZT STOSSFEST" meaning steel back, waterproof and shock resistant.

Dial Detail:  Original and not modified, black dial with constant seconds and 30 minute registers.  Original radium lume.  Minute hand is slightly lighter in color and likely an older re-lume  Outer 1/5 seconds graduation.

Movement Caliber:  Hanhart caliber 41, seventten jewels.  The flyback feature allows the timer to be reset without stopping the timing operation.  The movement serial number properly matches the case.

Condition:  Serviced and ready to wear

Strap:  Leather
